Welcome to Open Music Fest 2009
In the beginning there was the dream, riding on the enthusiasm of a dedicated few. Like all crazy ideas, however, an endeavor of this scale required something of a miracle in order to see the light of day. That miracle has been none other than the people of Yerevan.

Open Music Fest came into being thanks to the assistance of the capital’s denizens as well as a great many benefactors and sponsors, all of whom share a passion for the spirit of cultural renewal symbolized by the festival.

Today, with openness and inclusiveness as its twin mantras, Open Music Fest is an exuberant celebration of humanity’s musical tapestry, its practitioners and their vision, and also an evolving tribute to its many shapes to come. May the miracle thrive.

Open Air Concert on July 14, 22:00
Independence Square, Yerevan

TANGOXDUE Project came about in winter 2004 from the union of the two great talented persons from the Abruzzi, Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and Andrea Di Paolo, respectively accordionist and pianist. Less than a 3 year of activity the project "TangoXdue" has already got to agree the critics and the public: suffice to think about the statements by Dr. Argentini, LA7 General Manager "The two young rising stars, who know how to bring the music by Astor Piazzola to life  again through very involving interpretations", and by Paolo Brogi, journalist of "Corriere della Sera" "Pietrodarchi is a young "piazzollian" with great prospects as an accordionist,

supported by the great talent of Di Paolo, together in the magic performances of TangoXdue…"

Join us for an evening of exhilarating music making with NCOA and TangoXdue Project  under the stars...

This year, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the independent Republic of Armenia with a sense of duty and jubilation. In the past decade, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia has brought considerable contribution toward the strengthening of the Armenian statehood, reaffirming the well-known truth that a nation’s endurance is grounded in its spiritual and artistic values. The Zvartnots Gala concert, a continuation of the Shushi and Garni concerts, is another NCOA endeavor, but also an expression of our pride and allegiance to the 15th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. Our independence gives us the strength to continue to build the future of our nation and the ability to attain cultural perpetuity.

...Symbiosis of  Architecture,  Nature & Music...

Zvartnots temple, September 22, 2006, Armenia

...a  unique spectator during a rehearsal intermission ...

Zvartnots, a complex of structures erected in the middle of the 7th century near Echmiadzin, is of extreme architectural value.  The complex consisted of St. George temple or Zvartnots (vigil forces, celestial angels) and the palace of Catholicos Nerses Ill known as " The Builder."   Zvartnots, built as Armenia’s main cathedral in 641—661, was to surpass Echmiadzin cathedral by its grandeur.

Zvartnots lay in ruins as early as in the tenth century, the cause of its destruction remains a mystery.  The remnants of Zvartnots, even in ruins, are a majestic sight and impresses the onlooker by its extraordinary splendor. "Zvartnots" historical and cultural museum preservation is one of the important scientific- educational, cultural, and tourism centers of Armenia.  The monument - complex of Zvartnots was included in the World Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO in 2000.

Like a blaze, while nature played its own role in the evening stirring a wind, from behind a
fiery-red temple column, dancer/choreographer Aida Amirkhanian heated the nights with her interpretation of "Carmen" making its "Duet" with the temple.
